Jan Edwards – PRODUCTION DESIGNER | ART DIRECTOR
Jan has 20 years experience in Art Direction, Production Design, Set Decoration and Styling for Feature & Short Film, Commercials, TV Drama and Stills.
Over the years, her work in film and tv, commercials and stills has been both respected and sort after by many top directors, production companies, advertising agencies and stills photographers.
After graduating from Victorian College of the Arts with a Bachelor Fine Art, Jan dreamed of working as a scenic artist. But also while at art school she began a career as a Lighting Designer. It was her flare for lighting that helped her career take off and saw her create shows and visual spectaculars for bands such as Billy Baxter and The Hollowmen, Crown of Thorns, Sea Stories, Wedding’s Parties Anything, Celibate Rifles, Ed Kuepper, Kim Salmon and The Surrealists, The Hard Ons, Tall Tales and True, The Dirty Three, Crow and The Hummingbirds during a golden period in Australian music.
Then after a decade in lighting Jan found herself working in the art department of some major Australian and US feature films, including the Jane Campion classic Holy Smoke, Baz Luhrmann’s masterpiece Moulin Rouge, Andy Tennant’s Anna and The King and George Lucas’ Star Wars “Attack of the Clones” to name a few.
After travel throughout Indonesia in 2012, Jan joined Serangoon Road as Set Decorator, shot in Indonesia and Singapore.
2014 saw Jan work as Props Master on Deadline Gallipoli. Deadline Gallipoli explores the origin of the Gallipoli legend from the point of view of the war correspondents who lived through the campaign and bore witness to the extraordinary events that unfolded on the shores of Gallipoli in 1915.
In 2015 Jan Production Designed the short “WishYouHere” for Tropfest 2015/2016. It is one of the 16 finalists and has been nominated in all craft categories. WishYouHere will be screened at Tropfest, Sunday 14 February 2016.
